In South Korea, private marketplace platforms are very popular. They’re great places to find unique items like K-pop merch, secondhand clothing, and electronics at good prices. However, these sites are often difficult for international buyers to use due to language barriers, registration that requires a Korean phone number, local-only payment methods, and no international shipping.
We help with purchasing items from these platforms, but only under certain conditions.
In this article, we’ll cover the key aspects of shopping on these sites: the proxy buying process, our commission, delivery, returns and exchanges, product authenticity, and how to request additional information from sellers.
Platforms
Bunjang — South Korea’s largest C2C platform for mid-range goods (a major secondhand marketplace). People buy and sell branded clothing, K-pop merch, photocards, signed albums, electronics, limited-edition collectibles, and much more here.
Our take: A convenient platform with a huge number of new listings every day.
Fruitsfamily — A Korean fashion-focused C2C platform specializing in vintage and secondhand clothing (often called the “Korean Depop”). It’s known for unique vintage pieces, high-end designer items, branded clothing, accessories, and rare limited-edition finds. It offers convenient brand and style-based search with a strong selection of premium and collectible items.
Our take: An ideal platform for buying clothing with fresh, up-to-date listings.
Joonggonara — The largest and oldest C2C platform for used goods in South Korea (since 2003). Over 26 million users trade just about everything: electronics, clothing, shoes, branded and luxury items, K-pop merch, photocards, books, furniture, collectibles, spare parts, and much more.
Our take: Huge selection, but many listings are outdated.
Gugus — No.1 in South Korea. The largest C2C and B2C platform specializing in secondhand luxury (pre-owned designer items): Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Cartier, and other premium brands. This includes bags, watches, jewelry, clothing, accessories, as well as vintage pieces and unused new items.
It offers secure transactions with 100% authentication through professional appraisal and has 28–30+ physical offline stores across Korea. Perfect for buyers looking for authentic luxury at reduced prices with a guarantee of authenticity.
Our take: The best platform — highly recommended.
KREAM — Korea’s leading resale platform for limited-edition items. It specializes in authentic sneakers, streetwear, luxury goods, accessories, watches, toys, collectibles (Pokemon TCG, beauty items, collaborations), and K-fashion. It’s the Korean equivalent of StockX / POIZON — a C2C marketplace with mandatory professional authentication for every item before shipping. Features exclusive drops and the KREAM DRAW system.
Huge selection of hyped releases from Nike, Jordan, New Balance, Supreme, and luxury brands.
Ideal for sneakerheads, collectors, and anyone looking for rare limited-edition items with authenticity guarantees at market prices.
Our take: A strong platform that provides a certificate of authenticity. Delivery takes longer than usual due to the thorough inspection process.
SOLDOUT — A Korean limited-edition resale platform launched in 2020 by the company Musinsa. It’s a direct competitor to KREAM, focusing on authentic sneakers, streetwear, clothing, accessories, tech gadgets, lifestyle products, games, and sports gear. Every item undergoes mandatory professional authentication (검수) before shipping — offering a 100% guarantee of originality.
Ideal for sneakerheads, hype enthusiasts, and collectors of limited-edition releases from Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Supreme, and other brands — all at market prices with full authenticity protection.
Our take: A serious service from a popular team, with a certificate of authenticity.
HelloMarket — A Korean C2C platform for used goods with zero commission and a strong focus on fashion. One of the most popular sites for secondhand clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, kids’ items, and lifestyle products.
Our take: You can find some rare gems, but there are many abandoned listings. It’s best to choose active sellers.
Daangn.com (also known as Karrot Market) — Korea’s #1 hyper-local C2C platform for used goods (launched in 2015). It facilitates direct deals with neighbors within a 2–6 km (5–10 mile) radius — fresh local listings with no middlemen.
It’s especially popular among people aged 30–50 (compared to Bunjang, which is more popular with younger users). For foreigners, it requires a proxy service due to the need for a Korean phone number and Korean language. “Your carrot is nearby — warm neighborhood vibes!”
Our take: We recommend avoiding purchases unless the listing is in our local area: 경기도 안산시 단원구.
Buying Process
- Place your order for proxy purchase (Order type — Buy via Link).
- If the items are from different sellers, create separate orders for each.
- We will review your order, confirm the total cost including shipping and our service fee (if applicable).
- Make payment after confirmation.
- We will purchase the item(s) within 1 business day.
We will cancel the order if:
- The seller does not process the order for more than 3 days
- The seller refuses to accept payment through the platform
- The seller suggests completing the deal outside the platform
Platform Fees
Some platforms charge their own transaction fee. We take this into account when reviewing your order and include it in the final total cost.
Delivery
The cost of local delivery depends on the weight of the item and the distance from the seller to our warehouse. On average, local shipping ranges from 3,000 to 6,000 KRW. Delivery time is 2–3 business days after the seller ships the item.
Authenticity
Authenticity verification is only available through the platforms themselves. This service is provided by Gugus, SOLDOUT, and KREAM.
Our warehouse team does not perform authenticity checks or confirm whether items are original. However, you can request additional high-resolution photos or videos of specific parts of the item, and we will fulfill that request.
Returns and Exchanges
Almost all listings state that returns are not accepted.
A return is only possible in rare cases:
The seller sent the wrong item, wrong size, or wrong color than what was listed.
You cannot return an item if you simply change your mind, don’t like the condition of the item, or for any other personal reason.
Requesting Additional Information from the Seller
Here’s what you should not ask sellers:
- Extra photos. Sellers usually upload as many photos as they think are necessary. They generally won’t take new photos in different lighting, on a person, etc. The only exception is when the listing has just one photo — in that case, you can request a photo of the size tag.
- Questions about usage: When the item was purchased, who wore it, how it was washed, whether they have the original receipt, or if it’s authentic.
- Bargaining — Price negotiation is almost never possible. The rare exception is when buying multiple items from the same seller, where they might occasionally offer free shipping or a small gift.
Communication style: The culture on these platforms is that if you ask questions and get satisfactory answers, you are expected to buy the item right away. If you ask for details and then don’t purchase, there’s about an 80% chance the seller will block you (add you to their blacklist).
Example: You ask if the item is still available, don’t buy immediately (even after 1 hour), and get blocked.
Summary: If the listing is still up, it means the item is likely available (but not guaranteed). The price is final, the posted photos are all you get, and the description contains all the information the seller chose to provide.
Choose sellers with good reviews and listings with recent posting dates — especially those where you don’t have any remaining questions.
